Parish Walk 2023

CM sponsor Georgina McCarney and Rebekah Noon in their attempt at the 85 mile Parish Walk

The Parish Walk is a huge part of the Manx summer, and evidence of its existence can date back to the 1850’s! Competitors have the chance to walk 85 miles around the Isle of Man, visiting each of its 17 Parishes. Over 1,200 entries were recorded this year alone.

Last Saturday one of our staff, Georgina McCarney (pictured above), took part in the annual Isle of Man Parish Walk to raise money for charity and put herself to the test! Georgina managed to complete 42 miles of the course in under 10 hours, before finishing in Ballaugh. A very impressive effort for a first attempt at the event. More importantly, Georgina managed to surpass her goal of raising £500, as she has currently raised £1,149 for Care for Cancer which is a small charity based in Northern Ireland that provides support to patients, as well as their carers and families. CM also donated £150 to Rebekah Noon, who also finished in Ballaugh after completing 42 miles. Rebekah’s chosen charity was Motiv8 Addiction Services, who provide expert counselling for those struggling with addiction. A link to their site can be found below.
